Internet Branding - Gavaar
Much ado about these numbers. I was supposed to be on a call about them with the guys at TechCabal earlier, but fate and Etisalat conspired to shame me. Disappointing, because I was looking forward to it.
I should preface the rest of this article by saying Konga is a company that’s quite close to my heart. I think the founder/former CEO, Sim, is a great guy that has shown excellent vision, courage and leadership with the three companies he’s started in Nigeria and I truly believe his primary motivation is a desire to see Nigerians live a fundamentally better quality of life. What he’s trying to do with Konga is by no means easy nor will success be clear cut, but it’s pretty commendable.
Online personal and business reputation management is a growing problem that will only get worse in Nigeria, as more and more people use search engines (especially Google) to do background research on people, products and companies they interact with.
I was scrolling down my Facebook feeds and I saw this update from one of my friends: “So much 'cock and bulls' (misleading information) on the web today. You need to be filled with God's Spirit to even surf the Web without being contaminated physically, spiritually, emotionally and even psychologically. So many lies, half truth, propaganda and even deliberate seeds of evil are being sold to the undiscerning populace as news. Only God can save us from the hands of the minds that conceive these ideas in our world today. Never take any information off the internet or media until you've scrutinized it well. This age that we live in is the age of the battle between the Naked Truth and Well Dressed Lies.”
People have different priorities this year and I bet most of us (adults) have that special someone we are trying to keep up with, and there is this old saying that we can’t keep doing things the same way and expect a different result. We have to spice things up a little bit more, come up with more surprises, add new and exciting words into our conversations, and figure out a way to say we love that special someone differently this year.
Any sharp guy or married man must have been in the process of a chase to convince a lady to start a relationship once in a life time. Most ladies must have had series of experiences with guys trying to convince them to be more than just friends; some are heroic, some tragic while some are just above the bottom line. Just like it is for a man, the processes of finding a partner, convincing her and then extending the relationship to be more than just friends, are also the processes a successful company needs to adopt to attract and retain new customers and clients.

We will analyse the strength of your brand on the internet on the basis of your Brand Equity. Your brand equity is the amount of trust your brand commands in the mind of prospects.
Okay, Okay ... ... I have written a lot of stuffs about branding and internet marketing, but I think this one should have been the very first. Because the choice of your name is the most important branding decision you will ever make.
